Oh, those do look good. The foodie in me is embarrassed to admit I've never made them, despite it being a classic dish, and I've only eaten it once, though I really liked it. All the more puzzling then that I haven't attempted making them myself. I'll have to change that.

This is a similar recipe to the one I use, although I use vegetable oil not beef fat (that goes in the gravy!) They are really easy, but you need a grotty old tin.

Oh they look delicious. I have made them before, using a recipe from the 'Secret Garden Cookbook.' (it is all the foods that the people in the Secret Garden might have eaten, I think more books should come with a cookbook. (Cambridge Fellows...)

I am glad to see that yours look like that. It means mine must have been sort of right. Do yours get much less fun if you don't eat them right away?

As for grotty tins, I am well set for those, so that is good!

What do you think we should put in a Cambridge Fellows cookbook (apart from seed cake and Yorkshire's)?

You have to have Yorkshire's fresh from the oven or they sag and get sad. *nods*

Mmm - I love Yorkshires, and nearly always make my own (but sometimes I cheat and buy Aunt Bessie's!)

Those do look good!

Nothing wrong with Aunt Bessie. She makes an excellent croquet potato as well.

Ta!

They do look yummy, but I'm even more impressed that you can see through your oven door! I know your kitchen's new, and therefore so it your oven, but wow! What are you using to keep your glass that clean even though you're cooking with spitting fat?

(In my defence I should say I've only ever cooked with old old ovens.)

Mr Muscle. And normally my oven door resembles brown paper. I'm trying to keep this one reasonable.

I made Yorkshire pudding for this past Christmas from
a recipe in a cookbook I bought in London about 20
years ago. I'd eaten it, but never made it, so I decided
I'd give it a try. Everyone liked it except my mother,
who kept saying, "This doesn't look like pudding! Where's
the pudding?"

To her pudding is chocolate pudding. 99% of Americans
would agree with her.

But my husband, sister, and niece all enjoyed it with the
roast beef and gravy!

I'm glad they showed true gastronomic appreciation.

I do need to talk to your mother. Chocolate pudding is barely pudding under the meaning of the act. Spotted dick. Sticky Toffee Sponge. Jam roly poly. Bread and butter pudding. These are puddings.
