Movember - love it or hate it?

While I support the Movember cause, I find the month very depressing as my fave rugby boys spout fungus on their features. However, there have been some magnificent moustaches through the years, not least these lovely lads.

And, changing subject, who wouldn't like to unwrap this for Christmas?

One of my friends from long-ago university G&S society days is aiming to grow a full-on Kitchener moustache for Movember, and is taking his progress photos in appropriate headgear. The first week was a tin helmet, second was a very Edwardian straw boater. I'm waiting to see this week's pic...

Just found the pic, it was a 'brown Derby' hat! Very dapper.

Actually, that was week 3, last week, and this week it's a very smart topper!

That is Remus, the Knitted Knaked Rugby Player! He's holding a rugby ball and displaying *all* his attributes...

Just for fun, here's the decent version; the rear view (yes, he's got tattoos!); and the full frontal. Every pubic hair hand-knotted *leers*.

I hate it - I'd pay money to someone NOT to grow a moustache (or beard).

Oh, yes. We say that about certain of our faves, every year.

I don't like face hair either. It just seems like such a silly place for hair. (i mean humans have these silly hairy patches anyway, but so near the food, eew. Who thought that was a good idea?

I have no idea, but it doesn't have my approval.

Oh dear, exclaimed the bearded guy (it is nice and trim though), meekly raising his hand with a differing point of view. I first grew mine when I had my wisdom teeth pulled and it hurt to shave. I've never looked back and had not one but two men tell me they'd never speak to me again if I ever shaved. From the, ahem, intimate point of view, I find the sandpaper of a shaved face much more irritating than any facial hair. But the plain truth is I do like (trim) facial hair on many men.

I do like a beard on some men. Chris Robshaw. Cor. Monty Panesar - that's a magnificent specimen. But a moustache on men who were clearly meant to be clean shaven? Nooooooooo.

Josh Strauss has already won Movember, everyone else can go home and shave now. Though technically he cheated and just shaved a strip out of his enormous beard XD

Cheat cheat cheat. BTW A few tears round here yesterday at the Gray brothers. The tallest bros ever to play international rugby together!

It seems the people who sign up for Movember are often the least adept at growing moustaches (or, as my phone kept correcting, moist aches). A patchy moustache is a terrible thing.

Last year Richie Gray was in a televised match around November 25th. He had the merest fluff on his upper lip. Poor lad.
