A ship, a bell and a mystery

The sinking of the SS Mendi is one of the most poignant stories of WWI, so when the ship's bell appeared at Swanage pier, for the attention of one of our local new reporters, the plot thickened. Where had it been and how had it got there? Now the bell will be taken home, and quite rightly.
