charlie_cochrane: (I Do Two)
The lovely [livejournal.com profile] n8an has been reviewing all the stories in I Do Two. Except his own, of course. So, to complete the set, here's what my guest reviewer Bruin Fisher had to say about it:

One of my favourites among all the great stories in the anthology, this lovely tale of domesticity and the modern family really got to me. Charles and Neil are a couple. Charles runs a business baking and decorating cakes, Neil's work takes him away and has awkward hours. Neil has a daughter who lives with her mother, and the day arrives when young Anna's regular visit to her father goes awry because her father can't get home from work. So the story tells us how Anna and Charles tentatively forge a working relationship. The little intricacies that make up family interactions are beautifully portrayed for us. Anna begins to find she likes Charles despite his outlandish hair, and the first time she gangs up with him against her father in play is a molecular triumph. A truly delightful, heart-warming tale that I will be returning to again and again. Highly recommended.
