We saw Lincoln yesterday - excellent film, great ensemble acting, neatly scripted (especially the last few minutes).
Only one slight, well complaint's too harsh a word. There were lots of references, eg. subtitles listing date and location of a scene, or brief references to something or other which flitted past and left us thinking, "Well, I wonder what that's supposed to signify". I guess that's the same for non-Brits watching a UK film and wondering why Pitt is always shown in Amazing Grace with a glass in his hand or wondering what 50% of the jokes in Wallace and Gromit are about. I'm not saying these things should be explained (how clunky would that be) but it's only when you feel slightly disenfranchised by them that you notice how important they are.
