Often forgotten, compared to the Somme or similar land battles, Jutland saw a huge loss of life including that of Alexander Scrimgeour, he of “Scrimgeour's Small Scribbling Diary – The Truly Astonishing Wartime Diary and Letters of an Edwardian Gentleman, Naval Officer, Boy and Son”.
