Charlie's newsletter
Jun. 9th, 2018 07:42 pmThis is the two hundredth newsletter I’ve sent out. Where does the time go? Thanks to all of you who’ve been in since the start and thanks also to those of you who’ve come on board more recently. You’re a lovely lot.
News
I was blogging yesterday at Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words about the inspiration behind Pack Up Your Troubles. It really got me thinking, trying to work out exactly how and when the germ of a story was born and how the three tales in the anthology ended up so different.
In fact, I’ve been doing a lot of blogging over the last fortnight, including an update on what I’ve published so far this year and what’s still to come. I’m delighted to say that the remaining Cambridge Fellows books will be re-issued by Endeavour later this year, and I’m planning a winter themed CF novella for around the same time. That’s going to be set in 1910, so Mr. and Mrs. Stewart will be reappearing. There's also a free Midsummer themed Jonty and Orlando story coming very soon.
It’s almost ten years to the day since I was first published, with the novella Aftermath in the anthology Speak Its Name. That’s long out of print, although you can find that story on the free fiction page at my website. (Interesting to see how much my writing has moved on since then!) Sounds like a great excuse for a competition, so…
I’ll be offering one of the framed prints from the Cover? Art! exhibition (happy to post it to anywhere in the known universe). To enter, comment on the post here. Winner to be drawn 30th June.
And finally, in honour of the anniversary celebrations for the RAF, one of the WWI air aces.
