Another little gem from last Sunday: Wendy Metcalfe picked out the intriguing pairing of Luke from Star Wars and Woody from Toy Story.
LUKE SKYWALKER MEETS WOODY THE COWBOY
Luke Skywalker turned off his lightsabre as he came into the old and dusty room. What was this place? He'd run here to this abandoned city to avoid the Stormtroopers hunting him.
The Force had drawn him here, and it had become stronger as he walked down the stone steps into this rough-hewn rock room. Why had it brought him here? The place looked to be full of junk. But still the feeling that he should be here drew him into the room.
It was lined on the left-hand side with a row of head-height shelves, full of boxes of something. At first, he didn't recognize them, then he realized they were toys. But not the pathetic things he'd built as a very young boy on Tatooine. These were manufactured toys, slick plas representations of people he didn't know.
He walked down the row, following the nudgings of the Force, until he came to a figure in a box wearing a waistcoat and fancy boots. But its hat was fancier still, a huge brim shading the figure's face. Woody The Cowboy, the writing on the box said. It was Human Standard, but an odd dialect, and it took him a while to figure out the words.
What in all the galaxies was a cowboy? He'd never heard of such a thing. But the Force was nudging him to take the figure, so he reached up and pulled the box off the shelf.
It was then that he saw the data crystal hidden behind it. This was what the Force was leading him to. He slid it into a pouch on his bandolier and replaced Woody the Cowboy.
When he emerged from the store room the sky had gone dark, and the promised storm was not far off. He needed to find R-2 and C-3PO fast. They should be able to unlock the data on this crystal.
Luke fervently hoped it was the information the Rebel Alliance needed so desperately right now.
