Advent music - a rant

30 odd years ago I was in a doctor's waiting room and picked up a 'Christian' magazine. Amongst the letter to the editor was one bemoaning songs like Little Drummer Boy and saying they shouldn't be played, because they were about things not mentioned in the gospels. I felt like writing back and saying that you'd have to stop singing In the Bleak Midwinter, because earth did not stand hard as iron nor did it snow on snow in Bethlehem. Grrr.

Little Drummer Boy has a deeply profound Christian message. The only wealth the boy has is his ability to play and that's what he does for Jesus. Spot on.
