Not a recommendation from me for someone else's, but for one of mine. Lessons in Chasing the Wild Goose gets a feature in Septembers' recommended reads at Gay Book reviews.

Sad to see the fallout (and fallings out) in the US Ryder Cup camp. Can't help feeling that one of the other issues they had was lack of preparation. Only three of the 12 guys in the US team had played a competitive round at Paris National before the event. The 12 European players had knocked up over 200 competitive rounds there between them. With a course that was always going to be set up to reward traditional skills like accuracy off the tee - whereas American championship courses mainly reward length of drive and inaccuracy rarely goes properly punished - you'd have thought that just turning up and expecting to win wasn't the best strategy.
