Well, the last month or so has been an enormous learning curve for me. Choosing titles, choosing cover pictures, organising publicity; I'm so pleased I was doing all this as part of a triumvirate or else I would have been drowning. (Writing the story really was the easy bit.)

The latest joy has been doing an edit. Actually, I've learned an awful lot about my shortcomings (someone should restrain me from the use of my beloved semi-colons and from changing point of view all the time).

That said, the editing will be finished tonight, I hope.

Just out of interest, what does the editing involve? Aside from removing semi-colons - I'll restrain your use of them if you'll do something about my blatant comma happiness. *g*

I will give you comma depressors for Christmas...

There seem to be two stages of editing; content (which we all got through unscathed) and copy, which is what I've just done. This picked out problems with punctuation (which was basically the old ; and - overuse and easy to resolve), my jiggling about with POV (which took longer to sort out but taught me masses about writing) and a few bits and bobs where errors had got through. The sweetest bit was where the protags are at a cricket match and one refers to 'the rough' and the editor thought there was a word missing, ie the rough something.

The only thing that is rough is the editor's knowledge of cricket. What are they teaching them over there? Honestly...
