I have to be the luckiest girl in the world. [livejournal.com profile] nodbear wrote me a sonnet to help me get over the lurgy. Or, I should say, she channelled Jonty's voice, as it's his sonnet for Orlando, written in the 1960's. Of course, Orlando got all smug when he realised it was one line short of the necessary, so Jonty amended it.

I stand in awe of Nodbear's ability to trot out sonnets. If you like them as much as I do, please tell her.

She is astonishing. She is also very modest. I really admire the way she can do so much in so few words. Laser work, as opposed to shovel work. I am more of a shoveler. Almost all my edits are taking things out.

How wonderful, too, to think of Jonty, sixty years on, after war and loss, and finding his life again, watching the world begin to catch up to him.

*nods* Yes, absolutely. She seems to have a stronger grasp on them at that age than their creator does.

An I know what you mean about laser work. Nod has the ability to say more in a few lines than most people do in page upon page.
