As tagged by the lovely Lex Valentine!

Here are the rules: list (here or at Facebook) books that have stayed with you in some way. Don't take more than a few minutes, and don't think too hard. They don't have to be " right" or "great" works, just the ones that have touched you. Here are mine, in no particular order...

1. The Charioteer by Mary Renault
2. The Final Whistle by Stephen Cooper
3. The Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian (can't just choose one!)
4. Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K Jerome
5. Whistling in the Dark by Tamara Allen
6. Death at the President's Lodging by Michael Innes
7. Death and the Dancing Footman by Ngaio Marsh
8. The Best of Beachcomber by Beachcomber
9. Wilfred Owen by Dominic Hibberd
10. The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett

I don't know who to tag that hasn't done this, so feel free to join in if you wish.

I must read The Charioteer, I'm thoroughly enjoying the radio version. I had no idea that Phaedrus played such a central role in it! I think I may have squeed when Anton Lesser read out the byline of my journal. Ah, if only it had been JB had been doing the reading....

I know. But Lesser gets the voices very well - clear delineations of the characters. There are lots of sub-plots and nuances which are lost in the reduced version, which will make more sense of the story when you read the book.
