Why do my secondary characters want to take over?

I love it when people enjoy the secondary characters in my books. People seem to like Jonty's parents as much as they like him, and the Boys in our books reviewer of Best Corpse for the Job was extremely taken with Anderson, the sergeant.

"Anderson was fun and had a great sense of humor and he seemed to enjoy bantering with his boss. Robin and Anderson’s scenes were able to make me smile a lot. Cheeky little bugger that Anderson! *laugh*."

I got so fond of supporting character Will in Too Good A Man I've written him his own novella. :D

I do think that it's one of your strengths, that characters other than the "main characters" are fully fleshed and distinct. Congratulations on that review. I'm looking forward to this one!
