I wonder how many came back?

We must have walked past this particular wall numerous time but never noticed what treasures it hid. Apparently American GIs waiting to embark for D-day (and later in 1944 by the look of it) left their names. The wall has crumbled badly and is being digitally recorded before the names go entirely.
