Have blogged over at the Samhain site about how it isn't just beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Come and see what I think are the definitive odours, tastes, etc.

There are trees for sale up the street from me. They are ceders, and they smell just right. I seem to go by smell with trees. Husband thinks that is odd, but really you don't want to get home and have it smell wrong! We will probably get a smallish one next week.

We are going to string it with popcorn and cranberries and seashells, because this year our 'real' ornaments are in storage in CT. Still, it will look brave. All Christmas trees are beautiful-- like brides.

The other smell is of snow. There is snow-- it has not melted. But it is not as fiercely cold as it will be, in Feb. for instance. It is actually ok out.

Outside they are playing the looping Christmas music. Today we had Silent Night in Spanish, and Jingle Bells in Korean by kids little enough to shout when they sing. (4,5,6,maybe.)

Yes, you're quote right about the smell. The Nordman firs don't lose their needles but they smell wrong! Do post a picture of your tree, as it sounds like it will be wonderful.

Very mild here. The north has had snow but it's almost spring like here.

I haven't been feeling very 'in the spirit' this year (partly because I won't be having a tree, which makes me sad), but that blog post really helped. I can just smell the pine. ;)

I think they approved it early - isn't scheduled until next week, I think. I'll repost when it reappears!

Ah, that sort of makes sense.
