Has to be the Lidl one, School of Christmas. The John Lewis is nice and heartwarming, although it isn't Monty the Penguin.

I haven't noticed this year's John Lewis ad, but I have seen the Lidl one. Monty the Penguin brought a tear to my eye whenever I watched it last year. Was the bear and hare one the year before?

It was indeed. I think Monty's my favourite still, although "the man in the moon" has got Mr C thinking about lonely old folk and what we can do to help.

Sprouts in the kettle! I have never tried that. I fry mine now. But I have totally done asparagus in the coffee pot.

BTW it is so funny to me that you guys associate sprouts with Christmas. I don't think we have a Christmas vegetable over here. (Maybe that weird sweet potato and marshmallow thing...)

I think sprouts in the kettle is tongue in cheek and a bit of a dig at these cookery programmes where they present food weirdly.

Sprouts are partly associated with Christmas because that's the season they're ripe; I think. I could be wrong. Fried sprouts are almost edible. Sweet potato and marshmallow sounds vile.

Not seen that yet. Sally didn't rate it but I will give it a try. KFC have quite a sweet one about friendship.
