7.25am today, the middle Cochrane daughter shouted down "There's a deer in the garden".

This is not an unusual occurence. The wretched things seem to treat the place as some cervine (is that a word?) version of MacDonalds, gorging themselves on my plants and leaving mess all over the lawn. Today's visitor was a magnificent roe deer stag. I knocked on the window and waved my arms. I shouted things like "Go away" and "Bugger off". He ignored me. In the end I had to go out the back door, shout and clap my hands. Either the noise or the sight of me in my dressing gown scared him off.

Middle Cochrane, looking offended, "You made the deer sad."

I'll make him into bloody venison sausages if he comes round here again...

Love the icon. Copperfield?

I have plenty of pictures of the vile things. *grumble*

How you managed not to see one beats me. I'll put the little bugger in the garage with Scoot and the 3 Archies until you're next here...

om nom venison!

(Incidental to nothing, the post above yours on my flist is titled 'Sharing James Hook'. My immediate response was 'the hell I will', until I realised it was about the composer.

So, I suppose I came to you pre-bloodthirsty. Venison really is yummy, though.)

Don't share him with anyone, lovey. Except Mr Tovey. (Bad rugby pun. Almost as bad as 'Don't show your figure to fly halves called Biggar'.)

I like venison, although it doesn't always like me...

You need a compost bin--deer pellets are like bunny beans and great for the garden!

(Is jealous. My latest wildlife sightings were a mole (under the birdfeeder) and a woodpecker at the suet cake.

The squirrel is from last summer, asking if he could store his nuts in my office. Cats were in favor, I was not.

I have a composter - not sure I have the heart to go collecting their calling cards. Will leave them to fertilize the lawn.

Don't start me on squirrels - they're the other blights on our garden. *grumble grumble*
